How to Change Bulb in Recessed Ceiling Light with Cover

Change Bulb in Recessed Ceiling Light with Cover – In 3 Ways:

Like many other annoying household problem fixes, changing of recessed ceiling bulbs also follows different methods. Below are a few quick steps you need to follow.

1) Remove Ceiling Light Cover with Clips –

The light fixture stays in its place with the help of a few inches of several clips. The first thing you will need to do is remove those clips and then remove the ceiling light for changing.

Step 01: Ensuring Safety from Electricity

Turn the power source off to ensure safety. You will be out of the risk of electricity completely when you turn the switch off.

Step 02: Workplace Clearing

Ensure clearing the workspace. Using a ladder is a wise decision. Grab all necessary equipment and keep them within reach.

Step 03: Checking the Clip

Check if any clip pulls back. For this, you will need to pull each clip gently. After identifying, gentle pulling is compulsory to avoid any unwanted issues.

Generally, ½” of the clip will come out comfortably. The light fixture rim needs to be dipped under the clip. Leave the clip and let it slide into its designated place gently.

Step 04: Bulb Changing

From the remaining clips, gently pull the cover away. Then change the led bulb and fix if other issues are there. After you finish changing the bulb, get the cover back in its place again.

Step 05: Turning the Bulb On

Step 02: Tear the Duct Tape Strip Off

Tear as much as long duct tape. The length of the strip should be 12” similar length to your arms.

Step 03: Duct Tape Folding

Fold a small piece of duct tape so that it can fasten it to itself. Follow the same procedure on the opposite side. Ensure long enough folded duct tape for easy gripping, including a sticky part.

• If the process is a bit tricky for you, wrap the duct tape in a circle instead of folding with glue outside. Make sure the circle is long enough for easy fitting of your fingers through it.

Step 04: Duct Tape Attaching to the Recessed Bulb

Hold the duct tape handles and against the recessed bulb’s flat surface, press the sticky segment.

Step 05: Unscrew the Bulb

Once the bulb gets stuck to the duct tape, enough leverage is necessary because it will let you lose the bulb conveniently. Counterclockwise turning will let you unscrew the bulb.

Step 06: Spin the Bulb to Remove

After emerging the light bulb enough to hold the direction in your favor, the duct tape need to be pulled off. It is because spinning the bulb will be much faster now.

Step 07: Securely Fit the Bulb

The light bulb needs to be screwed using your hand as much as possible. When the screwing process is nearly finished, stick the duct tape again, and counterclockwise turning will give the bulb a protected fit.

Step 01: Give Time to the Bulb to Get Cool

Give the bulb a rest so that it can reach at the room temperature.

Step 02: Find Out the Metal Ring

Most of the recessed light fixtures use a metal cover to hold the light. Often these metal covers come with removable characteristics. But you should follow the manufacturer instruction to remove the cover. This way, damaging the ceiling can easily be avoided.

Step 03: Remove the Paint if Required

If you find any paint around the ring, use drywall to rip it away when unscrewing. You can avoid using drywall by using a utility knife to remove the paint. You can now follow the next steps until you find an efficient one that is workable for your recessed light bulb.

Step 04: Find a Button or Screw

Fortunately, some recessed ceiling light models are available where a few screws are holding the collar. In comparison, some models contain a metal button. You can release the fixture by pushing or sliding the metal to the side.
